WHICH CLASS SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Furnace glassblowing shapes molten glass: popular choices include vases, drinking glasses, bowls, and paperweights. Fusing means scoring, cutting, and arranging glass for kiln firing: coral bowls, trays, coasters, and wall art are popular. Flameworking shapes glass at a torch: flowers, ornaments, jewelry, and small sculptures are popular. These are examples—bring your own idea and we will help you choose a project suited to your experience and class time.

HOW LONG ARE CLASSES?

Fusing: about 1.5–2 hours. Furnace glassblowing: about 1.5 hours for one person, plus 30 minutes for each additional student with one instructor. Large parties may request two instructors to shorten the overall time, subject to availability. Flameworking: about 2 hours. Our fundamentals course includes six 3-hour classes—18 hours total—with dates arranged around your schedule.

DO I NEED EXPERIENCE? WHAT AGES CAN PARTICIPATE?

Beginners are welcome. Instructors guide you through the tools and techniques. Age guidelines are fusing 6+, furnace glassblowing 8+, and flameworking 12+. Contact us about your group’s needs.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? IS THE HOT SHOP SAFE?

Wear closed-toe shoes and natural-fiber clothing, such as cotton. Avoid synthetic fabrics and loose hanging jewelry. Tie back long hair. Hydrate before and during your visit. The hot shop contains heat and hot glass; follow your instructor’s guidance and safety instructions throughout the class.

WHEN CAN I TAKE MY GLASS HOME?

Glass needs at least 24 hours to cool. Pick up your finished work at the studio, or arrange shipping. Vacation visitors should plan their class before departure and discuss pickup or shipping with us.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE?

Call 850-865-7868 with at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations can be rescheduled or issued a gift certificate for a future class. No-shows and same-day cancellations do not receive a refund or credit.

DO YOU HOST GROUPS OR ACCEPT PEP?

​Yes—contact us about private parties, corporate gatherings, and homeschool groups. Glass Deer is an approved PEP vendor; homeschool families can seek reimbursement for eligible art activities.
